TITLE: HR Coordinator (National) TEAM/PROGRAMME: HR and Admin LOCATION: Amman with 25% travel to field office GRADE: 4 CONTRACT LENGTH:

1 year

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)

Level 3: The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting the country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: The HR Co-ordinator will be expected to provide generalist and operational support in the areas of recruitment, employee safeguarding, staff well-being and supporting line managers with performance management and employee relationships In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Role Dimensions: Save the Children currently responds to the Syria crisis from three different access (Jordan, Turkey and Iraq) points, with the intention of consolidating all Syria programming through a single Syria office based in Amman.

The post-holder is a member of the Amman HR team and will be expected to support Area based HR teams in various aspects of generalist or operational support. He/she is accountable to the HR Director for the provision of effective and timely HR services that support programme delivery.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Responsible for implementing the induction programme "Passport to success" for international staff and arranging exit interviews with HR coordinator -onboarding or HRD.
  • Ensure that the performance management process is properly understood by all staff and implemented consistently.
  • Support line managers to address underperformance i,e performance improvement plans and disciplinary sanctions.
  • Provide generalist and operational HR support to line managers across a full range of people management issues
  • Upon request from management to participate in investigations and grievance cases.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and labour law, Liaise with local labour authorities
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the line manager
  • Responsible for the preparation of the national and international payroll.
  • Rollout anti-harassment training sessions and follow up on any incidents (Anti-harassment, PSEA, Code of Conduct) ensuring these are proactively implemented for a safe working environment for all staff, volunteers and partners.
  • Work closely with the staff wellbeing committee on staff wellbeing issues impacting staff and ensure these issues are escalated to management as needed.
  • Make use of all available policies, practices, checklists and guidelines (HR minimum standards, emergencies HR toolkits) and ensure Save the Children good practice is in place
  • HR data management and update score cards and relevant trackers on regular basis.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources/ Business Management/ Administration or equivalent
  • At least 3-5 years work experience in Human Resources, previous HR experience in INGOs is essential
  • At least 1-3 work experience in Human Resources as a coordinator or officer is preferable.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Previous experience in international organization is preferable
  • Experience working in a fast paced large scale humanitarian response
  • Proven operational HR track-record - experience of providing generalist HR service to managers across a full range of HR issues
  • Experience of working in remote management set up
  • Ability to work independently, self-direct or at own initiative
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines, and a demanding workload
  • Proven skills in handling and advising on complex people management issues
  • Good facilitation skills and ability to deliver training and induction
  • Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English
  • Experience in working with and supporting multicultural teams

    Desirable:

  • Ability to travel to area offices for the Syria response office
  • Experience in staff capacity building
