Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Chief/ Senior Accountant in Amman, Jordan, to be part of our local team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. This role is a hybrid role between accounting/finance and asset management function, the role will require day to day accounting tasks in addition to gradual involvement into asset management.

Main Responsibilities
 
  • Capture day – to – day transactions on the accounting software system (GP dynamics), this includes all transactions including monthly closing transactions e.g., accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, etc.
  • Prepare invoices, reconciliations, initiate finding and payments.
  • Handle the monthly closing for all entities and reporting to the group.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory compliance towards lenders and governmental authorities.
  • Prepare quarterly, semi-annual and year-end financial statement including statutory year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare board of directors reporting packages.
  • Tax compliance which includes preparation and reporting on VAT every two months, prepare corporate taxes and action related payments to the tax authorities.
  • Handle all tasks and projects assigned by country manager. And work closely with the office admin officer.
  • Handle the external audits which involves providing auditors with the needed documentations, analysis, and any other matters to ensure smooth and successful audit.
  • Handle all queries, discussions, and reporting required by the corporate office in relation to financial and compliance matters.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process. Gradually handle the budgeting process independently.
  • Coach and supervise new joiners in accounting/ finance department.
     
Qualifications And Competencies
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience with 3 to 4 years of accounting experience. Preferred to have 1-2 years of audit experience in external auditor.
  • Preferred accounting experience in Renewable energy, construction sector.
  • Excellent MS office knowledge. With focus on Excel.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Full or partial professional qualification such as CMA, CPA is preferred.
  • Solid accounting knowledge, with hands on experience in implementing the full accounting cycle.
  • Solid knowledge in IFRS and local regulations including tax.
  • Systems: GP dynamics, MS office, Cognos, D365.
  • Advanced reporting skills. Which means the ability to handle standard/ nonstandard reporting requirement to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.
